Hi everyone I am new here. I like to collect coins with errors and I like to learn about what caused the error. I cannot find what type of error is in this 1989 D US Penny.
it has a round distress mark about 2mm from the edge of the coin going around in the obverse side and nothing on the reverse. Plus some doubled die or doubled strike on Liberty and on the year.
Can anyone comment on it thanks.

Based on the first, bright photo, I'd say it's
    uneven copper plating.

However, the other two photos look like it
    might be damage/contact.....

Can you post another new photo or two of the
    obverse?

Thank you Fred. Here are some more pictures hopefully are more clear. Seams to go all around but only on the flat sides.

    .....uneven copper plating, it appears.

    (assuming there's no damage that I can't
see - I assume the reverse is normal,
    and not bent)

Yes the reverse is fine but what is weir is that only the BE in LIBERTY and the 8 in 1989 are in that circle and they have like an offset.
