How uncommon is the transitional reverse (RDV-006 - Wide AM) for the 1988 business strike Lincolns? TIA
http://www.lincolncentresource.com/Featured/1988RDV6.html http://varietyvista.com/1988PRDV0061 cent.htm it's probably unknown since this variety hasn't received a lot of attention.
Thanks. I thiknk I figured it out that its not so much the Wide AM as much as its whether or not the G in the designers initials is flared (rare) or not. The straight initial appears to be common.
They are hard to find but not like impossible if you live in the Northeast. Location is a bonus if trying to find one. They are getting more popular since Cherrypickers has assigned a number to this variety FS-901. Hopefully the new Cherrypickers book will come out soon ?
The Denver minted ones of this variety are the rare ones. Last I heard there have been only a handful found. Phillys are much less rare and can be found if you do enough roll searching.
The worst part about learning of a variety you didn't know (for me) is looking at the antique metal milk can I'm filling with searched zinc cents and thinking, "Sure, there's probably a half dozen of 'em in there! Maybe I should dump it out...... :rolling: "
