Is it normal for a penny to fluctuate in wt? I have a 1988 D penny at 2.42 grams. Its in great shape with no damage or signs of tampering. Thanks in advance.
Coins do have a tolerance range. The range for the cent is about +/- .1 gram so anything from 2.4 to 2.6 is within tolerance.
