Found this 1988 penny and the rim where they cut the penny goes through the letters, like it was cut wrong. From the picture on the top where it says , in God we trust , looks like it's off centered or the rim goes through it. Is this a mistake? Thanks for any help. You can see how it fades away into the coin,
It is poor decision to continue using a die that was so worn and deteriorated. These are common as hard to notice by the operator until 1000s are done, so they just let it go. generally part of the area of die deterioration damage, but nice one to keep . IMO. Jim
