1988 mint mound?

    this penny is in really bad shape but I had to put it on here for the date and mound of copper around it

    That is from the zinc deteriorating underneath the copper plating. Very commonly seen, but that is a big one!

    it's keeper just cuz it's a big zit on mm.

    That's a "zinc zit"....common on these cents.
