Good afternoon CT community! Could someone assist me in determining if this 1988 Lincoln cent is a doubled ear variety in some "die-state"? Not as far south as listed in the CPG, in my opinion. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and thanks to ALL in advance!
Yeah just a chip. If it was doubled, the earlobe would be further south. Doubled eat dates are 1984, 1994, and 1997.
The ear has to have a bit of separation to be called one. It would be easy to miss the 04 and 06 But the 88 you couldn't miss. It has almost as much separation as the 84 and it is quite rare.
Thank you ALL for the replies! So is it a die chip then, based on the "separation" line pictured, or possibly some other "state" of the doubling of the aforementioned (DDO-003 - in the CPG)? Seems too rounded to be PMD (Just thinking out loud)?
Here is another angle of the 1988 Lincoln cent in question. Can anyone reaffirm as to what this anomaly could possibly be? Like I stated earlier, could this be at a certain stage? I'm not quite sure if that makes any sense though (Thinking out loud again). At any rate, thanks to ALL in advance for your help and knowledge regarding this matter! I LIKE TREES!!
