1988 dime missing clad layer?

    I found this today and was curious what has made its sheen disappear. Is the clad missing layer the sheen? It is smooth, but it is brown.

    Looks like you have a Dime with Environmental Damage. Clad layers on Dimes and Quarters are affected to exposure to soil, sand, dirt and the elements.
    I Metal Detect and have found thousands of examples such as your coin.

    A Missing Clad Layer Mint Error usually involves just one side of a clad coin
