1988 D Cent w/damage at MM

    1988 D Cent with apparent defect at mint mark. Is it lamination or inclusion? Any ideas?

    yup, zinc rot...it's a burst plating blister..

    your welcome, i've seen zincolns covered with spots like that, the mint mark is notorious for it as the plating splits slightly from the pressure of the strike, its all downhill from there as environmental contaminants attack the zinc core...
