1987 one cent

    This one cent seems to have a miss hit along the top of IN GOD WE TRUST. ANY SUGGESTIONS . The IN is hard to see and the letters have line through them. Also of on reverse side is damaged. 20240421_101137.jpg 20240421_101149.jpg

    That is a ridge ring and it is caused by a worn die, aka die deterioration. The coin has significant circulation wear, some corrosion on the reverse…spender.

    Not sure what a miss hit is but if you are referring to that line through IN GOD WE TRUST that is called a ridge ring. It’s very common, especially on zinc cents, which is what you have, a thin copper plated zinc cent.
