Is this a DDR .? On the memorial building to the left seems doubled and the lettering to the left of the coin

I agree with jallen. It's MD. Anytime the second image of the "DDO" or "DDR" appears flat or shelf-like... it's machine doubling. Good eye though!
I read and look at the photos ... But I still am not understanding the differences ... Is that uncommon?
Shy, Aside from the shelf-line appearance and lack of separation lines or splits, another good way to look at it is too imagine taking away the area that appears doubled. If you took this area away from the device, would the device then be thinner than normal? On this coin the O in ONE presents a good example. If you look at the lower left portion of the O where you are seeing the MD it becomes obvious that if you subtracted that area from the bottom of the O, then that part of the letter would be much thinner than normal.
