1986 steel penny

    I have never heard of a 1986 steel penny before, but there is one way to tell and that is to see what a magnet will do. The only steel pennies I know of is the 1943 and a very few 1944.

    I would guess that it is plated...and if so it would be worth 1 cent....

    Or it could be a regular penny with the copper plating removed to expose the zinc.
