in 1986 the 6 looks like it is a 9, nine w/ cud die crack on obverse, and the B in LIBERTY is a poss error Thank you! Dottie
I see the die crack on Abe's head and a die chip in the 9 of the date. Die cracks and chips are pretty common. FYI - A CUD is a break from the rim of the coin and usually into the field or design of the coin.
Dottie, like many of the marks on this coin, the "B" is nothing more than circulation damage. By the way, did you notice that the coin is also a misaligned die (MAD)? Chris
i see the railroad cpm, and cuds are far and few between, disappointed in the title of this thread, paddy, a fellow hunter found that same cent a few years back. Rare, to say the least.
A "railroad rim" and a misaligned die are two completely different things. Let's try not to get into the habit of using the wrong terms. It is too easy to confuse others. Chris
pattyman98, I did it again, I still have the link you shared a while back, I organized them for a quick reference, I just finished organizing the links, that were shared with me, also made a list with terms and pics, that I looked up, I have a lot of studying ahead, omg do I, will work hard! doing small amounts at a time, thank you all so much! I never expected what is involved, thank you all so much! Dottie
@paddyman98 if I send some coins to your place will they catch the cuds and come home looking like that?
