don't think so. Sorry Retained Lamination Definition : A lamination error occurs when metal flakes off the surface of a coin or planchet. It is generally believed that the flaking, peeling, and cracking is due to impurities in the alloy which causes metal to separate along horizontal planes of weakness.
I think the call it struck through grease . follow me > https://www.sullivannumismatics.com/information/articles/strike-through-error-coins https://www.cointalk.com/threads/greased-coins.290970/
Gee thanks , lol. Ok sir your the expert then I guess " Expert in Training " Been collecting before you were bornand I have no time for such comments .
If you want the truth about a coin you can ask paddyman98 I think is his name I'll make sure and get back to you
I believe that sir paddy is very expert too and strict about error and that’s what the new collectors need. There’s a lot of good expert here on CT. Base on what I observed
Oh boy.. The Missing L in LIBERTY in looks to be a common Struck Through Grease issue. Since a 1986 is copper plated it is less of a Lamination but definitely some sort of anomaly. What it could be? I'm not totally sure. Thanks Marites. I don't like using the word "expert".. A Specialist is a more proper title I use. Unless you are Fred Weinberg or Mike Diamond then you can call yourself an expert! Sorry folks.
Miss, I will not promise it is one. It depends if you can see there is an actual raised area. If you look at the 1st full obverse photo, you will notice a very faint line continuing down past where the L should be, but I can't tell for sure.( Noticed Paddy's grease) but it could be a very minor lamination if it is raised and not a surface scratch. You have a good eye. IMO, Jim
Just to clarify.. I stated that since it is copper plated it could be less of a Lamination but not that is not at all a Lamination. Many believe that Laminations cannot occur on Copper plated cents. Not totally true. I have this example of a 1984 copper plated zinc in my collection attributed by NGC I hope I didn't confuse y'all now
Hi sir Jim thank you so much for your time. I will take new clear pictures later after I’m done my exercise...
