1986 D penny error??? no idea...

    i found this today whlie looking through pocket change and i have no idea what is going on with this penny. its by far one of the strangest finds ive had. it looks like its very worn, but ive seen pennies in much worse shape than this one and none of them look like this. any help would be much appreciated! thanks!

    in 1982 the composition of the cent was changed to a copper plated zinc core. This coin is suffering from zinc rot and is slowly rotting from the inside out.
