    Hello all, would like your opinion on this coin. It is a weak poor quality strike but seems to have extra spacing between B and E in liberty.
    You views are very much appreciated.

    Hope every one has a safe and Happy New Year

    Not a Die Break issue. Just a worn die effect.

    @Hookman
    I see what you were thinking. But a IIB or a BIE would be a Die Break issue also caused by a worn die.

    The effect on the coin in question is due to Die Deterioration. There is Die Deterioration Doubling to the letter I on left of it and that sunken look between the B and E.

    Copper plated zinc cents are horrible especially when they are being struck with well worn dies.

    I appreciate the info. I was just trying to get the newbie to do some of his own research.

    Thanks again.

    You didn't bother me and I apologize if I sounded rude or uncaring.

    Actually, we here at Coin Talk !! enjoy sharing our knowledge and expertise with others, however, it's always better to help people Learn to Help Themselves. It's just like the Biblical parable about teaching a man to fish.
    Give a man a fish and he will eat once.
    Teach a man to fish and he will eat many times.
    Give a man the answer and he will know one thing.
    Teach a man to find the answers and he will know everything.

    Thank you, I don't think I ask the question properly. I do search many resources before I ask for help but the BIE I listed here seems it could be determined in several ways. A local coin dealer said it was a double die, I was not convinced leading me to ask that question on this site. And I do appreciate your help.
    I have searched many many rolls of coins over the past years and I will help others here if I can. I wish I had joined here years ago but work was in the way LOL/

    Thanks Again and have a great NEW YEARS
