I was going through some of my coins a couple nights ago and I ran across this 1985 P Washington Quarter that is (in my mind anyway) seriously pressed offset Obverse and Reverse. I had completely forgot I had it. If anyone could help me to figure out exactly what this is called (I know it's an error) and maybe if I should send it off for slabbing I would be really grateful.
I was totally surprised because I had completely forgot I had it. Actually that's not entirely true. I'm just guessing I forgot it! I was going through a bag I've had for many years and it was in there. A big mixture of coins. Since I got the coin bug again a few months back I've been going through them one by one. The last few days I've been putting individual Effigy Mounds (EM) Quarters under the microscope. So far I think I may have found at least 4 different errors out of about $100.00 worth of Quarters. I still have about $75.00 worth to go through. The microscope thing is really time consuming! But I guess I got lucky with that too. I bought a bunch of Fed roll Quarters from the bank and almost every one was a EM.
I took advantage of the poll and voted multiple times, one for each 10. I didn't want to appear bias.
Very interesting coin. I think your coin may qualify under some type of broadstrike. Here is a link that may help you. http://www.error-ref.com/broadstrikes/
