Hey, I’m new to looking up coins. Just getting into it. I just saw online a mint 1985 went for $5,875.00! I found this penny in my bucket of coins. I do not have a scale yet. So I haven’t weighed it. It looks to be in great condition, but it has an odd mark/dent. Any information or advice would be appreciated.
No need to weight yout Cent. It's Copper Plated Zinc which weighs 2.5 grams Looks like a normal circulated Cent. The issues you see is probably from Die Deterioration which is common on Cents
Is his name Jason Couch? Because the dude posts misinformation all the time. He just recently stated in a video that “Littleton coin albums are the best money can buy”. I corrected him and told him nope. That’s Intercept Shield. The only reason he is stating this was due to sponsorship from Littleton. Have called this guy out on lots of misinformation he posts. Pretty much he creates videos around information and photographs he sees on the internet, to make money on views and ads, with an only basic understanding of what he is actually posting. It irritates me the amount of people posting “educational” videos that lack a true depth of numismatic knowledge simply to profit from views. You don’t need an understanding of numismatics to post videos giving people false hope they can find high grade conditional rarities in circulation.
Thanks so much for your information. That’s extremely annoying when you get new people like myself who can’t make “heads or tails” of who is credible. I would have no idea who is telling the truth and who isn’t. Would any you recommend anyone who posts videos that are credible or sites that I can find information more easily?
I wouldn’t use any YouTube channel in all honesty, or in the least, take what you hear on there with a grain of salt. I see so much misinformation amongst that community, due in part from people trying to pump out as much content to make money from views and obtain subscribers. Also people with inflated egos that don’t even have a RIGHT to have inflated egos, it’s a joke. I’d stick around here and ask actual, credible Numismatists that have credibility and experience, not kids and people with a YouTube account that want to establish themselves as “experts” to make money on views and brag about what they have or found. With the likes of Physics-Fan, Idhair, Insider, BooksB4Coins, Stldanceartist, and many others, you have a group of far more credible and knowledge than people on YouTube and they’re not here to make money. I have yet to find a YouTuber posting consistently reliable numismatic information from a voice of EXPERIENCE. You see a lot of these guys literally pulling stuff off google and narrating it- instead of sharing original viewpoints and knowledge they have learned..... Then plugging their own retail sites and merchandise.
Stop watching YouTube. I've never found it trufully honest they make it seem so easy to make big money over one cent or anything.
You know they’re just oversensationalizing coins to make money on views/subs with videos that start with “WHAT is UP guys my name is ______ and today we are gonna be looking at pennies that are WORTH MONEY!!!!! So take a look at your change for these RARE pennies!”.......... “And by the way guys if you want to view your coins, buy a USB microscope off my website at ...........!” And then dude pulls up a photo he took off of Google. /facepalm
