Well, I was all ready to say nothing, but then I looked and it's actually the lowest mintage in the series. Still, most likely less than a dollar.

Some guy offered me 1200 dollars I think you're mistaken. Trying to figure out if I should sell it why I'm asking

Well, the Krause Catalog of World Coins seems to think it's common, with a mintage of 2.7 million. Maybe someone else will chime in who knows something else, but I don't see anything to indicate it is valuable.

Wikipedia says this, so maybe you have something after all: "The 1985 version of this coin is particularly rare, and valuable to coin collectors - the vast majority of the 2.8 million were melted in 1987. The 1986 coin was only produced for the 1986 specimen sets and is also rare."

my 2014 Krause lists it at $2000 in UNC & $3000 in BU.
Also from the www.irishcoinage.com website where it lists the BU as $450Euros
"The 1985 halfpenny was produced in circulation quantities but many of these did not get to circulation and were returned to the Central Bank and melted when the coin was demonetised in 1987. But some coins did escape and fortunately some of these were used to make up private souvenier sets of the coinage so the coins are not as scarce as was though some years ago and they are available in bright uncirculated condition.
