These came from my mothers collection, I have had them for sometime and was just wondering on possible value???? Correct me if im wrong but i believe these are genuine because i dont believe there were any sheet notes for atlanta or the year?
Sorry to have to correct you but these come from an uncut sheet. The FC block was issued in uncut sheets for this series.
Purposely mis-cut. Those serials are from BEP issued un-cut sheets. They are genuine US currency, though. Look here: http://www.uspapermoney.info/groups/f1985_s.txt
EDIT: Seeing he has multiple of these including both sides... he could just exchange any one of them that has over 50% as you correctly noted... Just the last day or so some clown on theBay was selling about a third of a modern $100 for $25.
Uncut sheets are not listed in my standard guide to small us paper money but i know now you guys are right.
You will see alot of these out there that start with 99 in the serials - that's your cue that they were issued as uncut sheets. Not sure of all the years but it's moderns only...
There's a seller on ebay who has been making these for a number of years. It even states in the listing that they are not errors from the BEP yet people still buy them and are very disappointed that they were taken for a ride. Just for some added info regarding the serial numbers of sheets: http://www.uspapermoney.info/survey/sheets.txt
From the BEP's FAQ: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Office of Currency Standards processes all requests for reimbursement for damaged United States currency. They decide the redemption value of torn or otherwise unfit currency by measuring the portions of the notes submitted. Generally, they reimburse the full face value if clearly more than one-half of the original note remains. Currency fragments measuring less than one-half are not redeemable.
I don't have the bookmark any longer but their name was something like "studio...." something. I did a quick look through ebay but couldn't find any listings. I'll keep you posted if I find it.
