Found this Class I doubled die on a 1985 100 Mexican pesos coin in my foreign coin jar when I got into error and variety hunting at the start of the pandemic. I also cherrypicked a second of the same variety off of ebay soon after.
Cool! I don't know much about foreign Doubled die errors, is there much value in that? Edit: Doubled die varieties, sorry for all you more knowledgeable people here who were cringing at my incorrect terminology
@William F I would say not much value, but they are very fun. Besides CPG listed die varieties, there isn't a lot of money in *any* die variety, even for US coins. It's a very niche hobby and many of the really hard-core enthusiasts prefer to find their own coins by coin roll hunting, which drives the prices down for many of the minor die varieties. A major foreign die variety like this would probably carry some premium to the right buyer, but not a ton. Just FYI, doubled dies are actually considered die varieties, not error coins, since they are not the result of any mistake in the striking process, but rather a properly struck coin struck by an improperly made die.
