I don't see any like this on double die varieties website I have seen one on ebay could it be a new variety? When is it worth getting graded? Thx ct
I see a Ridge Ring on that ... that would be the bulge you see going from just to the left of "M" in america, all the way left through United States of; and you can see remnants of it under the N in ONE (cent). The rim edge is that same area is also affected. that identifies die deterioration. unless you see something else, somewhere else ??
I would love to see a thread with examples of the different types of doubling; mechanical, deteriorated etc vs true doubled dies. As a newb, I've put a ton of junk in 2x2s
It's not junk if it looks different, you found it and it's yours. It is probably only a minor manufacturing variance which happens in any production process. And, each one gives us more education. I save them just for fun.
there's about 8 classes of Doubled Dies, as shown here in links (each with their own page) about 1/4 way down the page http://doubleddie.com/58222.html for a start ...
In your defense, you did say "around 8", which technically includes 9. Rich, that's a beautiful Bugs Bunny in your sig. I just got my first recently, looks more like Dracula
