I found this penny today. It has a few raised bumps I tried picking them off because I figured it was just dirt or something. Any ideas?
Looks like plating blisters or zinc rot to me. Cuds are always on the rim. like this below Jeffersons bust.
Not a cud but plating blisters. As @steve.e said, CUDs involve the break at the rim and go into the device.
the big blob on the bottom is plating blister? its a little blurry for me to see clearly. any reference links on the subject? please and ty.
http://www.error-ref.com/blisteredplating/ Also, as Fred said, looks to be some corrosion as well. Hence the discoloration.
I did a dumb dumb move. I am familiar with those blisters. I didn't see the little picture of the penny and thought we were talking about the Jefferson nickel which looked good for a cud. looked so good I couldn't see anything else lol. gonna shut up now ;-)
