1984 lincoln with bubbles?

    why all the bubbles? advice appreciated

    because the super thin copper plating didn't stick to the zinc metal very good. we usually call these gas bubbles.

    The mint had not figured out the new zinc cladding. Some of these are bizarre!

    Yep! Found a 1984 very similar last night myself.

    Gas bubbles under the plating are very common starting in 1982. They didn't really get it under control until about 89-90.
