I see it. Not sure what it could be from. Is there any doubling else where on the coin? Kinda hard to tell from the photos. Nothing about a double chin or beard at CONECA or coopercoins.com Here are some descriptions on other '84 cent varieties from CONECA: http://www.conecaonline.org/content/lincolndoubleddies19801997.html#_1984 Here are the '84 descriptions and photos from coppercoins: Just type in 1984 to 1984 selecet philidelphia and search. The look at the marker photos. One of these may contain the double chin there is just no photo or mention of it. http://coppercoins.com/diesearch.php
want to zoom in and check this picture out? I looked at coppercoins and coneca, dont see anything in there like this. maybe a one of a kind!!!!! now that would be cool!!!!!!!!!!!!. bottom picture is normal beard. left click to zoom both thanks bill
I was just looking in my book (strike it rich with pocket change) and they have a picture of a 1984 with a double beard. it looks like the one I have. does anyone else have this book? maybe you can look at it and let me know what you think. thanks BILL
here is a picture of the whole page. notice the arrow pointing to the chin? but i dont see anything with the ear thanks bill
My browser does not let the image enlarge and crashes when I try, I'll have to wait until I get home to see these images.
I don't know. The pic in the book shows the doubling through the neck area too. I don't see it on your coin. If it is, it would be a late-stage variety of it. I don't have the book, and I have never heard of just a double-beard penny like this with-out talking about the 1984DDO for that year. Does the book discuss this error too.
you know what i do see now is something is up with the bow tie. there is an extra bow. take a look at the error coin and the regular. you can see it
I have several of the 1984 cents with the doubled beard. It is not like your coin. The coin in Ken's book also has doubling on the lower portion of the bust. There is doubling on the date and LIBERTY is very thick. Your coin looks like the beard on any well struck, earlier die state cent from 1983 or 1984. It's not a doubled die. Thanks,Bill
First of all before anybody determines anything on this coin we need better Pics.I will not come up with a conclusion until then. I do see an indication of doubling and may be a different variety. i will not give my opinion until you post better Pics. I would say by these pics the doubling is MD has flat images not rounded anyway JC
