I'm assuming this is environmental damage maybe been underground just wanted verify that I think I'm right taking all I learn from here and put it to good use
Yeah…kind of a tell-tale color…definitely either subterranean or some kind of other environmental damage…imo…Spark
Yes. Environmental Exposure Toning damage. Here are examples from my metal detecting finds which occurs on Cupro-Nickel clad coins and Cupro-Nickel nickels.
You are correct. It’s been damaged by the environment. Whatever it was exposed to caused it to turn that color.
