Please tell me what you think of this reverse. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/1984DDDRReverse.jpg Thanks Darryl
Howdy Darryl, It looks like its a worn die---could you get closer photo of some of the things that look doubled? Speedy
okay - here you go. Specifically the S's in states, the N an S in Cents, The M in Montincello, the inside of the top loop of the 8, the bottom side of the 4. There are others but these seem the most pronounced. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/1984DRev3.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/1984DRev1.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/1984DRev2.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/1984DObv1.jpg Thanks Darryl
The first picture you posted makes the coin look very "grainy". In your later photos I see how the others think it is a worn die.
Well here are my thoughts on the coin. It seems to be die fatigue.<sp?> You can tell that the dies seem to be well worn by the orange peal look to the whole coin. While there may be some doubling I would say that it is most likley because of the worn state of the dies. Speedy
Darryl, I'll send you a PM tonight with what I've found out---if I forget please remind me as these last few days have been really busy........ Speedy
