The coin below seems to approximate the 1984 D DDR-001 on both Wexler (http://www.doubleddie.com/828865.html) and VarietyVista (http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1984DDDR001.htm).

What appears to be a "struck through grease" across the UNITED STATES OF in USOA is very similar to that shown in Variety Vista's listing. There is also a die gouge indicated in Wexler's listing I see on my coin to the N in CENT.

I also see similarity in the FG initials indicated on both Wexler and VarietyVista, with closer approximation to VarietyVista.

Wexler does not indicate the dates, whereas VarietyVista does. It appears as though the MM and the 8 in the date may have taken a hit or something but I see similarity in the date as well.

As I said, I am on the fence and feel this is a strong candidate. I have searched through quite a bit of coins and feel I understand a DDD, MD, and DD fairly well which is why I haven't submitted many posts. Every once in a while I come across questionable coins and don't want to miss one.

    Thanks for your responses.

Danomite What do you say uh-huh

The die marker on the N in cent looks close. This is a minor DDR and is tough to attribute. Can you post a clear picture of the R in America?

Those are some good pics Tank.
Unfortunately the extra thickness and seperation lines aren't visible on your coin.
One other way to eliminate any questions about a coin is to check the mint mark placement. On DDR-001 the mint mark is close to the same position as yours except the D is rotated the right and down.
Yours is rotated to the left and up.

I see subtle indications to the R and last A in AMERICA, as well as the G in FG. I see your point about the mint mark. It is why I post it and ask other for their insight. I will wait for others to chime in as well. I see your position on my coin and I now straddle the fence instead of sitting on it with both legs to the DDR side.
