i was told no notching...no doubled die. I don't know for sure about the E PLURIBUS UNUM but the E in AMERICA and maybe the C that I marked in one of the photos. advice appreciated.
Can I ask who told you this? I am going to assume that it was not one of the TPG's right? I would submit it. How ever do not just listen to me as there are a lot more knowledgeable collectors out here then me.
It looks like die deterioration to me. The doubling on the bottom bar of the E actually looks bigger than the main bottom bar. Also, the middle and top bar should be doubled, not just the bottom. That's just my opinion. Wait on a pro and good luck!
Doubtful it is a DD. http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/washington doubled dies 1965-1996.htm
That's typical of the die deterioration we see with the quarter series. Not a doubled die. http://koinpro.tripod.com/OFD/1993P25cDDD.jpg
Nearly all doubled dies, with exception to some class VI doubled dies, will show notching and extra thickness that is indicative of hub doubling. I think the coin posted shows die deterioration doubling.
