1984 D Lincoln with Planchet error / Die Crack

    Oh IDK. Plus this is a zinc coin. Looks like a cracked planchet.

    Is the whole thing raised or sunken in? Looks like a scratch BUT I could be wrong. I've been known for that . :rolleyes: Hard to really see without being in hand.

    Again, full size photos! It looks like is was scratched on the left side and that the planchet is cracked. It’s definitely zinc but hard to say as most of the coin is missing in the photos. I can see a small piece missing on the A at the cross bar on the right post.

    The first and third photo shows a black spot on the rim. Part of the copper coating is missing and that is the start of zinc rot. That curved line on the ME in AMERICA looks like it was damaged but there is a crack on the AM in AMERICA. Quite possible this planchet had a defect which was compounded by the damage. At any rate, it’s different but nothing to get excited about and not worth any extra money. Put in a flip and keep it if you like. I would.
