Found this today, thought it was cool.

The "I" in the motto is clearly a grease fill, but what about the "L" in Liberty. There is no trace of it.

Enjoy and thanks for any insights.

I'd say same thing: struck through grease. Nice find!

Not really sure about the "L". I personally have never seen such a "grease clog" to completely remove any trace or even a hint of a letter. Would at lest expect a smudge or something. Just my opinion though. Wait for the experts to get better info.

Like I said on the other forum (LCR) I believe this to be a struck through grease impacting the I and L.

It's a grease filled die. I've seen them where everything but Lincoln is missing.
    Thanks,

I like the ones that only say "BERT". If that was my real name, I would collect those!!

That helps me a little but the OP's "L" has no trace. I'm not stiring the pot and do realize that your pic of the no date is lacking all details. Would an overhead of the "no date" show any markings? Still a novice looking for info.

The second coin in that thread has no trace of most of the motto.

OP's coin was in circulation and has oxidized - if shot with a different light it may (or may not) yield a trace of the L...

Excellent point, that's why I'm the novice and learn from the members expertise. Thanks for the info
