1984 D Doubled Tie and Die Crack?

    Need some opinions on the tie and a possible die crack on this '84-D...

    I'm not seeing any doubling. Bring the image into Paint and draw arrows directed toward the area in question.

    As far as the any die cracks go, I think what you're seeing is just the result of occluded gas between the plating and core.

    I looked at a couple of other 84-Ds and didnt see this spot...

    I'm thinking it's either a minor die chip or - as previously mentioned - occluded gas between the Cu plating and Zn core.

    What you are seeing is actually part of the design, although I do agree that the coin in general does have plating problems. Keep up the hunt!

    die cracks are very noticable

    i will post pics of die cracks when i get back home tonight.. from work i have a bunch i think 30 or 35 of them ..
