its referred to as a "prisoner cent" it is a very nice clashed die.great find,I think they are very cool.
Here is the reverse with a clashed "Y". Compare the position of this to the position of the "Y" on yours. Also, the columns don't appear to be recessed into the fields, and they should be. Chris
On further examination, you don't have LIBERTY in the one photo aligned with the date in the other photo. If you had these properly aligned, the alignment of both portions of the Memorial would be out of sync. It would be better if we were to see one photo showing the complete coin. Chris
Here is an example,I have owned these, they are neat coins. http://cgi.ebay.com/1983-Lincoln-Pr...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item27b0f26518
i think I can see the Y in liberty on the back of my coin also. It's definitely a clash. No other explanation for it and the images are right.
Nice one Jason. Check the reverse to see if it's slightly rotated. You may have a minor rotated die die clash!
jallen, Great call! It is rotated. About 20 degrees or so. That's very cool. I wondered why the reverse image was slanted.
