I found this penny and I believe it is aluminum anyone know any thing. It is very shiny where the copper came off. I don't know much about coins but check any strange looking ones.
It's not aluminum. What you are seeing is the inner zinc core that has been exposed by someone grinding off the outter copper layer. It is just damage and only worth one cent. Spend it before the zinc rots and you are down a penny.
Can't improve on perfection. Everything I would say is right here ^^^^^^. They only made aluminum cents in 1974 and they were never circulating currency. Any of those cents that still exist are subject to confiscation by the Treasury Dept. An aluminum cent weighs less than 1 gram. Always weigh any coin you have a question about, as that will usually eliminate 90% of all possibilities. Your coin weighs 2.5 grams and can't possibly be aluminum. (0.93 grams)
It's zinc, common and damaged. Go with what the Frog said as it can't be said any better than that. Welcome to CT.
I see that you've posted six times since you joined yesterday, but this is the only one that's still visible. Were the other five posts also "assurances"?
And I can assure you that your incorrect That's a copper plated zinc planchet Cent with some of the copper taken off on the edge and exposing the inner zinc. That's no mint error of any kind! Please do not give incorrect information on this forum if you do not know what you're talking about.
