You folks have been so helpful in the past, I thought I'd toss this one at you. I'm of two minds here. The left brain says RPM, the right brain says post strike mint damage. There is unquestionably a "D" shaped stamp under the actual mint mark, but its below and apparently rotated somewhat. Wear and toning are consistent with the rest of the coin, so this happened at striking time or shortly thereafter. In the immortal words of Yul Brynner, "It is a puzzlement to me." As always, any assistance is most gratefully desired.
It looks like a corrosion bubble to me. On the reverse, along the top of the memorial, you can see the same thing.

While I don't believe that its an RPM I do find it rather interesting. You should have it evaluated by CONECA.
