    Hello peeps,

I am new here and new to collecting :) I was rummaging through a bargain bin at a local coin dealer and I came across this penny. It had a folded up tag from a rare coin shop stating it was an unplated zinc penny. When under my magnifier I saw no blistering or discoloration that would be caused by any chemicals, I also checked the edges and saw no traces of copper. The penny is dull grey color in normal light, has no shine and is dull to the touch. My camera is not the best but I have pictures of both obverse and reverse as well as the weight show on a scale. Scale is calibrated, tested with other items. What do you all think?

    Looks unplated to me.
    The reasoning:
    Not dipped in acid
No copper layering visible (at least in the pictures)
The label says that it's unplated
