Hello I am new to coin collecting and noticed a penny with an extra mark on the back side. I've included a photo and hopefully someone can explain whether or not this is worth holding onto. IMG_0183.JPG

Your 1983 Cent is a Copper Plated Zinc coin...
That is a plating issue called a Plating Bubble.

    Not worth saving IMHO

Agreed. Keep searching though. Can’t find anything if you don’t look!

What would be a good find as far as penny errors are concerned? Do they all have mint marks? I've noticed one with no mint mark, but looked into it and there was a certain year when they started the mint mark.

Usually the cents without mint marks are Philadelphia.

Always look for DDOs, DDRs, Wide AMs, Close AM, Die Clashes, etc. Look up different errors or buy a book. Cherrypicker's Guide is a great resource.
