Hello Everybody" Texas Newbie Here" just joined and how i love seeing all the pics and comments of help everyone gets here. I hope...like everybody to finally find that coin that will retire me HAHA... but i'd love any feedback on this penny i was looking at... its a 1983 penny no mint but seems to be suspicious around the ear lob and nose just can't find anything on errors on this coin for that area....Thanks again for any help...Happy searching everybody =)
Welcome to Cointalk Your coin has no mint mark because it was made in Philadelphia 2017 was the first year that they put their mint mark on on the coin. Your coin appears to have what we refer to as MD (Machine Doubling).JMO Dave
Thanks Dave does that mean anything of value or something 2keep or its just another coin? First time i'v seen Machine Doubling mentioned so sorry have no idea what that means for me as to what to do with the coin....also thanks so much for replying to my post.
Well coin collecting is what you like if you like it keep it as far as value .1 cent MD doesn't add any extra value to a coin. IMO Dave
Welcome to Coin Talk! Hope you enjoy the site and continue to learn. Here are 2 pages to help you out with machine doubling. I had this information given to me when I first started and I still reference it to this day. machine-doubling MD.html 2 separate pages. Bookmark them for later use also!
