I came across this 1983 Half and the edges of the coins look odd. I dont think this was caused by being shaven down or run through the machine one to many times. The edges clearly look to be over lapping letters. Was this a common error for these coins? 20161006_131144.jpg 20161006_131206.jpg 20161006_131307.jpg 20161006_131333.jpg 20161006_131401.jpg 20161006_131446.jpg 20161006_131541.jpg 20161006_131623.jpg

Just PMD. What youre seeing on the rims is the flow of metal moving due to so many hits and scratches. The rim is the highest point of the coin, or supposed to be anyways. So the rim will exhibit the damage more dramatically. Imagine this coin sliding across the pavement, which is probably what happened.

    PMS means something different :p

But serious answer, it's a damaged coin. Worth $0.50.
