i found this roll searching. it is not as clear as the one in the red book, but it is a variation? did i finally find the real thing on the 72?
the 83 looks like a form of die detoriation or split plate doubling, hard to tell from your picture.the 72 could be legit (it could also be pmd or MD) though i want to see both observe and reserve before I give you an answer
when i said big one i meant my big one best coin i have found so far. any idea on grade or what it might be worth? are there more than one variation?
The 1983 is not a DDR The 1972 is a DDO, but not the 'big one' The doubled date would be very obvious.
Based on the pics.. I say the 83 is nothing. the 72 is a DDO, can you get clearer shots of the motto and the date? perhaps we can give you the right ID for it.
1983 - Die det doubling, common 1972 - Definately a DDO, probably a minor one. Compare what you see to the copper coins website: http://coppercoins.com/diesearch.php?date=1972&page=1
ty to everyone for your comments. every comment helps. i did not know there were more than one type of 72 ddo. there is a little doubling in a couple letters of liberty but you almost have to strain to see it.
Here are some photos I took of my 72/72 Die #1. It really has a lot of separation. the actual coin in the photos is shown in the PCGS holder after submiting at the end. The photos were taken a while back and the 55/55 just tagged along, but I haven't shown them is a year or more. Jim
Ok, now I have to show my second best, although I like it as much due to the toning I beg indulgence for showing 2.
