found this coin searching today. i also found a 1992 poss. ddo what do you think? The coins are in better shape than the pictures show. BILL
Well i'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but that looks like tell tale machine doubling to me... I say no DD-anything, but will let others make the call...
you must click on the zoom to get a good close-up esp. on the (N) and (D) in united and all of america thanks BILL. I just noticed , if you zoom in on the (E) in states, the middle line looks to be triple, also check out the (A) in states. left click on the picture , then left click 3 times you will see it. the A and m in america are tripled on top also.
Hi, Neither coin is a Doubled Die. The 1983 exhibits machine doubling The 1992 exhibits the often seen flatness of the lettering and date together with something we see on plated coins. We call it plate-shift doubling. Thanks,
Hi, I'm Sorry to say that they are not worth keeping as valuable coins, as they are common and have no value above face but You might want to keep them as examples that you can compare other coins to in the future. Thanks, Bill
im a little confused! To my eyes, i see a ddr. Did everyone zoom in? The (N) and (D) in united sure look doubled, the (A) and (S) in states look doubled, the middle line in the (E) in states is tripled, and the (A) and (M) in America are tripled, also the (C)and (A) seem doubled. Are you sure this is just MD? I know it is wishfull thinking on my part, but ive never seen a coin with triple lines before, and its still a MD?
yorkie: As far as the N & D of United: It this was a DDR, then all letters (including those inbetween) would show the doubling. also, flat shelf like appearance, therefore, strike/machine/mechanical doubling.
Hey, did you take these pics with your flash on? If you did, turn it off and that would help with the glare. If not, try backing away from the light source and it should help get a clearer pic.
