1983 copper penny

They say this is a great find... It feels to good to be true.....it weighs 3.0 I have about 20 83 penny's and only 1 weighs this amount.... Opinions please and if you think it is worth it .. Where do I go what are the steps to get paid .....

My opinion is that the coin on the scale and the other coins are clearly different.

 

I see plating bubbles with zinc rot.
It's not a copper cent.

Yup. Regardless of what it is, I can tell you what it ISN'T.

 

If it's actually copper it has a lot of value. It would be 10 to 15K. I don't think that is what you have. I'm not sure if one with the D mintmark has ever been found.

 

Agree with post #2. The coin on the scale is not a 1983.
Photo is blurry but it appears to be 1980. And BamBam is correct.
No mint mark on the scale coin. Ahhaha.

There is no mint mark on the coin on the scale. You are weighing a different coin.

Well I don't believe anybody has been sarcastic yet, but it's obvious that the OP took a picture of the coin with the scale 3 feet away.and the other two pics where close up and cut and cropped, So what's a person to think.JMO
