    Now looking at the top pic the U looks doubled . What do you think ?

    No, PMD as mentioned. Notice that there appears a depression at the bottom left of the U. That normal metal was pushed up even with the top part of the 'U'. That is because copper is so soft. A variety is not a single coin , it is because of something happening to the die itself and the resulting production of multitudes until the affected die is changed. A mint error can be individual coins, but they have to be a result of damage within the minting process. The coin shows a lot of wear and tear, so Post Mint damage. Jim
