I have been too busy lately with a recent move/family tragedy/welcoming baby news...to do much of anything with coins until recently. I found this coin, a large date 1982 Zinc cent (on the left) that looks like it may have been struck through grease and I am sorry, but I need to know for sure if I am correct as I would like to go about this the right way. As you can see in the reverse there is the wood like texture and the globs of metal of the exterior columns and also on the bushes to the left, but there is also the very poorly struck 'FG' and some on the first 'S' in 'STATES'. Also, despite some pmd the 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' is looking a little...flat? I'd love to hear thoughts and get some advice. Thank you in advance! ~M
The acne texture was explained to me as a plating issue... http://coinauctionshelp.com/copperplatingissues.html
the weak FG could be from grease on the die but the rest is plating blisters, very common 80's zincolns...
