Hello, just wondering if this is real silver. It is marked 1982 .999 fine silver, and sealed in a plastic covered cardboard sheet. I can't remember who made it, a washington dc token-making company. Anyway just wondering if it is a real 1 oz round and _not_ like the Dale Earnhardt silver rounds that are actually silverish plated copper slugs (those actually still sell in the $300 range on eBay!). This Washington round has a similar chrome look but I do see a tiny amount of tarnish. I did see many for sale on eBay but only one sold recently at about $40. That tells me they occasionally do sell -with NO premium- but does not tell me if it is real silver. Someone I know just got 30 of these Washington rounds. THANK YOU in advance !!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Can you possibly weigh it? One troy ounce of silver weighs 31.1 grams

Can't, it is in original package. It is a known item by a known company. The composition, however, is unknown to me.

It is marked .999 fine, it is illegal to mark it if its not real

  6. That dosn't mean anything. There are tons of fakes out there. What is the name of the company?

I'm not a coin collector by any stretch of the imagination, but have you done the magnet test? When I used to work at a pawn shop we ran all our jewelry and coins under a magnet, if it pulls then it's plated.
