I have never seen any woody they call it in this time frame, have on wheat cents, just wondering if they are worth holding on to or sending in?
I can't imagine they would be worth sending in. But it doesn't cost anything to hold on to them. They look like 82-D large date coppers, which don't carry a premium. The planchet flaws which create the wood grain appearance, might have some value to people who like that sort of thing. But the value is going to be much less than the cost of grading. (IMO)
I can not say I have seen a woody cent from this era. 1982 is the last year this effect could happen, as plated cents will never show this effect. I would hang on to them for sure. Very nice find.
