1982 quarter it has a channel completely on edge?

i got this week and it has a channel competely around edge i went hmm i loupe it to find some markd of cutting but didn't see one any clues?

Could be an acid or something etching the copper quicker than the nickel.

 

It's been in an acid dip. The acid erodes the copper core faster than the nickel clad.

yep it pretty bad but sometimes you come across a coin that is bad you think boy this coin has had a ruff life i going to post a dime tonight its got issues too thanks for all the input
