Hello everyone, my daughter and I were flipping through some change and she noticed this lettering on penny looking weird, so we were wondering if anyone had any ideas on it on the back side of penny the (ED) IN UNITED, (STAES) In states, and the (OF and A) in of america are parcel letters. Also the (E) below it aswell.. Thanks magnifier_20240325_210841.jpg magnifier_20240325_210751.jpg magnifier_20240325_210357.jpg IMG_20240325_205855.jpg magnifier_20240325_210751.jpg magnifier_20240325_210357.jpg IMG_20240325_205855.jpg

That's normal. If you look opposite of the letters you are referring to you can see the bottom of Lincoln's bust. When the planchet is struck the design of Lincoln's bust causes the lettering on the opposite side to be sort of struck a bit weak.

    Nothing really major.

But…it is a 1982-D small date. It has zinc exposed on the left reverse post and above the left side columns, so it will weigh around 2.5 grams…imo…Spark
