Not familiar with the right terminology for errors coins but I’m learning. I found this in a register this evening and I believe you guys refer to it as a CUD? It appears to follow up the left side rim by liberty?
Haha. So it looks like a pretty well known error for that year. So em I correct when I assume I have a bit of both on the rim and body?
Thank you. It’s never been an error that has truly stood out to me until today when I looked in the drawer and it caught my eye right away. I have thousand of un-searched Pennys and nickels. I have free time tonight and within 10 minutes of looking through some loose change I found this. Is this what they call a die break or chip?? On the liberty?
It's a small die chip/break. These were relatively common on cents from the 50s. They are called BIE cents because the break is usually between the B and E and looks like an I. Not much, if any premium but still fun to collect.
Yes it’s a die chip. Commonly called a BIE error. The chip occurs in between the B and E of LIBERTY. A very common place but neat to find. It’s a keeper.
Great info folks. Thank you for the info. Truly is me interested as I have probably $3-5 worth of unsearched 50’s penny’s in my collection that I will have a blast picking through now that I know what I’m looking for
How about this one? I went through a few randomly found rolls I found at the bank. How about this one. It appears to have some lamination issues??
