I came across these two coins and figured I would post them up here so someone can tell me if they are worth holding on to or not. Notice the rims in each error coin. I have a normal penny and dime in each picture for comparison.
Looks like either a slightly off center or mis-aligned die. If the back of the coin is off center like the front, then it's off center. If not, mis aligned die. Not sure about value.
I have several of these myself-they are very common in older Lincolns and Roosevelt's of all years. Most are misaligned dies but keep an eye out for doubling on both the obverse and reverse as well as if the reverse is off-center. I have a few with die clashes on the Lincoln cents, so be sure to look for on common areas for evidence (such as a TY or his beard showing through on the memorial on the reverse) just to be thorough.
