Does anyone know of the difference on 1982 nickels? I have heard from another one of my posts that there is a change that year and there are some 1982 P,D, and S nickels with obv/rev of old design/old design obv/rev of new design/new design obv/rev of new design/old design obv/rev of old design/new design Anyone know anything about these? Anyone know any websites about this or Jefferson nickels in general?
They can be a little hard to spot because strikes can be awful. The best way to see it is to get a couple different well struck coins from circulation. The differences ar4e pretty striking wiuth the details being sharpened up for the '82 design. There may well be other varieties of these as well but I've not studied them enough to know. Nagengast speaks extensively of these but doesn't have photos in The Jefferson Nickel Analyst.
